Sycamore Anthracnose
Description, Diagnosis and Management
|
|
| |
| |
Sycamore Anthracnose is a stem inhabiting fungus that causes
defoliation, twig dieback, and a ragged appearance. |
| |
The seriousness of this disease is relative to the health
of the tree it is infecting. Healthy trees can withstand many
years of defoliation, while trees in a stressed condition can
experience severe dieback and decline. |
| |
Most disease infection grows out of the twigs and into
the leaves from the inside - thus sprays are not very effective. |
| |
Disease severity changes from year to year and is dependant
on temperature. Cool springs are more conducive to severe Sycamore
Anthracnose outbreaks. |
| |
Treatment with Arbotect Macro-infusion, gives fungicidal
protection from the inside of the tree as it coats the small
twigs and branches were the disease grows. One treatment lasts
for 3 years. |
